Rally for Kids and Health Fair

This year’s Rally for Kids and Health Fair were a big success!  The kids had fun running the 1 mile course.  Here are a few pictures from the event.

Thanks to Laura Rossi and Adrin Smith for organizing and all of the volunteers and fans who came to cheer on the runners.

PTO Co-President Honored as Friend of Education Award

At the Monday, May 14th Board of Education Meeting, Nicole Robbins was honored with a Friend of Education Award.  Principal Scott Walter nominated and presented her this award, recognizing Nicole for all of her involvement with the district and for making decisions to always put kids first.

Nicole served as PTO co-president with April Van Buren for the last two years.

Congratulations, Nicole!  Thank you for your leadership and service!

April showers bring May flowers! Looking forward to the Spring blossoms that are just around the corner! March was a busy month!

A HUGE SHOUT OUT TO MR. WALTER, STATE OF WISCONSIN’S 2018 PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR!!! We already knew how amazing he is, but now all of Wisconsin knows too! We’re so grateful for all he does for our kids and families!

The teachers enjoyed a delicious dinner from Rosati’s during parent teacher conferences, courtesy of the PTO.  We couldn’t provide the teachers with these meals if it weren’t for the generous donations from our Riverside families. The teachers really appreciated it!

Talk about March Madness, Hoopalooza was a roaring success! It’s hard to believe that it was such a close game, ending in a tie at the last minute! This event wouldn’t be nearly as successful without all of the contributions from all of you, from bake sale items to raffle basket donations, it takes a lot of hands (and some very talented teachers!) to make this a successful event! Thank you to Sally Carlson and the Hoops committee and volunteers for all of your hard work! It was a great community building event between our two schools. Such a fun night!

The PTO loves putting on events for the families and students at Riverside! We couldn’t do it without your help! We are still in need of some co-chairs and committee members for our events for next year. If you are interested in being on the planning team for Intergenerational Day or Teacher Appreciation, please email us! We are also looking for new PTO presidents for next year. We can’t make these events happen without you!

Looking ahead, mark your calendars for Intergenerational Day on May 3rd and don’t forget teacher appreciation week is the first full week in May! Let’s make sure our teachers know how much we appreciate them!

We hope you have a happy and safe spring break!

Join us at Riverside on April 10th at 6:30 p.m. for our next PTO meeting!

January Newsletter

Happy 2018! We hope everyone had a wonderful break and a Happy New Year!

Thank you to all who came out to our 1st PTO social in December – it was a fun night! It’s so nice to get to know other school families outside of meetings and kids’ events, and we hope to do more get-togethers like this in the future!

The 3rd annual Riverside Giving Tree was a huge success…so much joy brought to our own Riverside (and this year also Ben Franklin) families. Over 30 families were represented on the giving trees this year – thank you to everyone who took tags and gave of themselves to make the holidays merrier for others!

The Variety show is coming up on January 25th, and even if your child is not performing this year, it is a fun event to watch!

Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, January 9th at 6:30 at Ben Franklin, including free babysitting. Riverside will be voting to increase our teacher mini-grant budget at the meeting – these mini-grants provide teachers with supplies and other resources for their classrooms. Another wonderful way the PTO supports all things at Riverside!

Be sure to check out our updated PTO website. The link can be found on the new Riverside website, or you can access it directly at:

We are going to try and utilize this website to increase communication and post updates/forms/information that might be useful to our members. Our goal is to keep it current and add some fun pictures – if you notice it hasn’t been updated for a while, shoot us an email because we probably forgot!

We hope 2018 is off to a great start for everyone & that it’s your best year ever!!
